As far as I know only Heller and Plastyk released a 707-328C in 1/72 scale. Heller is to re-release a Boeing 707-300 in 1/72 scale. The type of engine is the only area which need careful attention - ensure the kit has the correct engine.

For a modelling project this is probably the easiest SAAF subject to do. The Boeings are similar to the commercial type for modelling purposes.

Colour Schemes

No National marking were carried, not even a serial number! (Except for the last two digits of the serial number on the wheel doors in black). This changed sins the SAAF was 75year old. The words "South African Air Force", "Suid-Afrikaanse Lugmag" are applied to the fuselage, behind the cockpit. On the vertical stabilizer the New National flag is applied with the serial number and small Castle below the vertical stabilizer on the back part of the fuselage. The aircraft are painted white on top of fuselage with medium sea grey on the lower part and on top of wings. The engine pods is in metal. Serial numbers 1415, 1417, 1419, 1421 and 1423.

Last Word

For this model there are a few different types that can be build. The first is as a tanker (air-to-air refuel). For that 2 under wing pods need to be added.

The next one can be the electronic warfare version. Where you need to add a little bubble dome on the right side on top and a square "block" on the left side of plane. This can be made of putty.

There is also a version that is a combination of both the 2 previous versions.
